I have a HP Notebook - 14-cf1599sa which I have had for just over a year. In the past few months whenever I pick up the notebook while it is on it either freezes and refuses to work until I turn it off and on manually, or it makes a strange noise and the recovery page comes up but the percentage for restarting never changes and just stays at 0.

I

Any ideas what might be wrong with it and what I can do to stop it happening?

@Beth990

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Open the System Tests menu when Windows won't start.

  1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

  2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

  3. On the main menu, click System Tests.

    The System Tests menu displays.

    System Tests menu

 Run the Extensive Test. This test can take 2 or more hours to complete.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
