I was curious or wanted to know if I send my notebook/laptop in for repairs and they  need to replace the hard drive can I ask them or will they send me the old one back??  currently I have no way to recover those files without removing  it  as it will not do anything and have tried all the fixes to reboot it as well.

Sorry, but the basic answer is NO -- Hp does not return the old drive; instead, they destroy it.

 

Please provide details on what you have tried so I can see if there is anything else you could do.
