Re Envy x360 13-ag0003na.
Message received in settings 'Windows is not activated. Activate Windows now.' Windows 10 preloaded. Works OK.
I bought device direct from HP. No 25 digit product was ever provided. Product number Yes. Serial number Yes.
Lines of assistance have proven useless.
How do I get rid of this notice?? Any advice appreciated as I'm a linux user first and don't appreciate this Windows irritant.

Hi
KeyFinderInstaller may help....
https://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/
Doing research, and none of the methods are mine, I have some, simple single lines of code that will list the same value for your Windows 10 Product Key…
Two for Windows 10 and one for Linux.
W10 Using cmd.exe as an Administrator (copy and paste accordingly).
wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey >> c:\ProdKey.txt
Creates a text file called ProdKey.txt on your C:\ area.
Next is a PowerShell command, as Administrator...
(Get-WmiObject -query ‘select * from SoftwareLicensingService’).OA3xOriginalProductKey
but it will run within W10 using cmd.exe as an Administrator.
powershell (Get-WmiObject -query ‘select * from SoftwareLicensingService’).OA3xOriginalProductKey
Last, but not least....
Linux@Lubuntu:~$ sudo cat /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/MSDM | strings | tail -n 1

If in doubt please ask.

Thanks for the response but MS Windows itself seems corrupted. HP assistance are sending me a RCD which I guess is a recovery disk of sorts. Am irritated by the ever-present on-screen message 'Activate Windows' and ' Go to Settings to activate Windows', and in Settings I find that Windows activation is not possible because no valid digital licence is detected. Plus a suggestion that I buy one!!! The laptop is less than 3 months old. Not a good advert for HP.
I have 6 different devices and this is the only one from HP and the only one that presents problems.

As advised I tried a number of possible solutions but the bottom line was that my Envy laptop could not recognise any license and couldn't read product key and so refused to play. The recovery disk ordered by technician Denise at HP support did the trick. After about 3 hours of download, initialisation and installation my Envy is back to how it was when I first had it. Despite complaining here and there and not engaging I wanted to say thank you for the advice offered.
Odd though that the HP recovery USB had to come from Czech Republic, flown to Leipzig, then to Birmingham and lastly to me in Cardiff. Given that HP Help has a London 020 tel code I thought it was coming from London and complained that it took 4 days. Duh!
