Operating system boot mode change error

Hi there, my laptop suddenly turned off and went to black screen with text saying that the boot device was not found. I've followed all steps outlined on other threads here - pressing f10 and enabling ect, but nothing works. I am hesitant to suggest that a replacement HDD is needed, but long term that may be the case.

So do you have any Recovery / Backup measures?

IF it was me I would try....

Make DVD/USB and boot from it via ESC and F9.

Wait 5 minutes for it load and stabilize then view the HDD.

I also would try the Gparted option and view and run a test  check on the HDD.

BUT IT IS SOMETHING I AM FAMILIAR WITH and very daunting for the beginner.

BUT I don't fully understand what initiated the optimisation or the need for a Secure Boot change.
