Hi there, my laptop suddenly turned off and went to black screen with text saying that the boot device was not found. I've followed all steps outlined on other threads here - pressing f10 and enabling ect, but nothing works. I've now managed to run a diagnostics scan which gave me a QR Code to this ljnk: http://www.hp.com/embed/sfs/doc?pchwd=true&pnum=Z3C95EA&lc=en&dsn=CND63618LW&z0=RLL47T-8A29RK-XD7X7F...

Is anyone able to shed some light on the problem and a potential fix please? Many thanks

Hi

YES....

Failure Information
Failure ID Tag Checksum Test Date Failure Code Device Includes Error Message RLL47T-8A29RK-XD7X7F-61WR03 OK 11/3/19 307 Storage Floppy Drive, Hard Drive, Memory Drive, Optical Drive, SCSI, Tape Drive Hard Disk 1 Optimized

Which means all data may still be there but it is hidden or locked.

Thanks for your reply - any advice on where to go from here please?

I am hesitant to suggest that a replacement HDD is needed, but long term that may be the case.

So do you have any Recovery / Backup measures?

IF it was me I would try....

https://lubuntu.net/downloads/

Make DVD/USB and boot from it via ESC and F9.

Wait 5 minutes for it load and stabilize then view the HDD.

I also would try the Gparted option and view and run a test  check on the HDD.

BUT IT IS SOMETHING I AM FAMILIAR WITH and very daunting for the beginner.

OR

BUT I don't fully understand what initiated the optimisation or the need for a Secure Boot change.
