I ran test & optimized dst check fail

If I have to replace my HDD how to I get back my original windows 8 (upgraded to 10) as I do not have any back up on pen drive ???

Re: Shorter route. When you did the free upgrade to Windows 10 your machine was given a digital license to reinstall Windows 10. Your hardware id was stored on Microsoft servers- mainly the motherboard id. So once you install and Windows checks activation status you will be approved.

As for Windows 8 Recovery Media- HP (US) will not ship outside the US due to regulations. You will need to contact HP Support in India.

Since you didn't make Recovery Media flash drive, you can take the long route and order it from HP (approx $40) reinstall Windows 8 and run the upgrade again OR the shorter and free route.Use the free Download Tool from Microsoft to make a Windows 10 installation on flash drive. Boot with it and install. When asked for license key select Skip. Once it is installed and connects to internet it should activate automatically from MS servers.

Thanks, my hdd is totally crashed. We ran on a linux system and scanned it and it has input output errors and                       the HDD has gone bad upto the point that windows can't read its own files to boot. SO it is a total loss of HDD.

I found that HP uses Hitach HDD which probably is the worse HDD. I had a Acer lappy with HItachi and in that too i had 100% failure. My other lappy's of Lenovo and Asus are working well and hopefully they do not have Hitachi HDD.

Sir, how do i order from HP USA (I live in India). I do not mind paying US $ 40.00 if they can ship to India and if can get my genuine Windows.

RE. Shorter and free route, i can install the download tool from Microsoft but how will it recognize it had genuine windows or not as my hdd is totally crashed and i have no references and activation except the sticker of  Windows on my laptop. Windows 8 has no number unlike Windows 8.

I thank you for your reply and your willingness to help which is very much appreciated.
