@Daniel1519, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding a persistent orange blinking light!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you are experiencing an issue with your HP laptop where there is a persistent orange blinking light, and performing a power drain results in the caps lock light flashing briefly before returning to the orange blinking. This likely indicates a problem with the battery or the charging mechanism. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Troubleshooting Steps

Check Battery and Charger:

  • Remove the battery (if possible) and disconnect the charger.
  • Inspect the battery and charger for any visible damage or irregularities.

Power Drain:

  • Disconnect the charger and remove the battery.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to drain residual power.
  • Reconnect only the charger without the battery and try powering on.

Battery Reinstallation:

  • If the laptop powered on after connecting only the charger, power it off again.
  • Reinstall the battery and check if the issue persists.

Check for Loose Connections:

  • Verify that all connections are secure, including the power adapter connection to the laptop.

Test with Different Charger:

  • If possible, test with another compatible charger to rule out issues with the current charger.

Inspect Charging Port:

  • Check the laptop's charging port for any signs of damage or debris.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
