So my CPU ğis around 70-80 C degree in normal use although it is fluctuating a lot. When I play a game for example ' Rust'. Temperature goes over 100 C degree it stays around 104 C. About -+2 degrees. It worried me so I took my pc to authorized Hp service. I had been using this laptop for 1,5 years so they cleaned it from dust and replaced the thermal paste. ,
Unfortunately it is still the same. What should I do?

Hi @einstakt,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Overheating issues with laptops, especially gaming ones, can be quite concerning. Since you've already had the laptop cleaned and had the thermal paste replaced by an authorized HP service center, there are a few additional steps you can consider.
Ensure Proper Ventilation:
- Use a Cooling Pad: A laptop cooling pad can help improve airflow and lower temperatures.
- Use on a Hard Surface: Make sure the laptop is on a flat, hard surface to allow proper airflow. Avoid using it on soft surfaces like beds or couches.
Update Drivers and BIOS:
- Check for Updates: Ensure that your graphics card and CPU drivers are up to date. Sometimes, HP updates can improve thermal management.
- Update BIOS: Updating the BIOS can also sometimes help with thermal management and system stability.
Monitor Background Processes:
- Check for High Usage: Use Task Manager to see if there are any processes consuming excessive CPU or GPU resources that could contribute to overheating.
Adjust Power Settings:
- Power Plan: In Windows, you can adjust your power settings to a balanced or power-saving mode to reduce the strain on your CPU and GPU.
- Thermal Management Settings: Check if there are any specific settings in your BIOS or HP software for thermal management.
Clean the Vents and Fans:
- Even though the laptop was cleaned, dust can accumulate quickly. Use compressed air to blow out any dust from the vents and fans.
Consider Repasting Again:
- Thermal Paste Application: If the thermal paste was not applied correctly or if a low-quality paste was used, it might not be effective. You might want to get a second opinion on the paste application.
Check the Thermal Solution:
- Heatsinks and Fans: Ensure that the heatsinks and fans are properly seated and functioning. Sometimes, a loose heatsink or fan can cause high temperatures.
If none of these solutions resolve the issue, it might be worth exploring if your laptop's thermal design is adequate for the kind of load you're placing on it. In some cases, high-performance laptops may have inherent thermal limitations, especially in demanding games.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

So I updated all the firmwares. I have used this pc for a long time and it had no heating issues. Like you said Im suspecting a badly applied or low quality thermal paste but besides I can think of nothing. Is there a chance it might be faulty chip?

Thnk you for the idea. I dropped the laptop to autherized service for the 2nd time. It works better now even though its not good. I see 85C degree at most usually. Peaks at 95C at stress test. I bought Arctic mx-6 as thermal paste. Gonna apply it someday. Might do your recom. if doesnt help. THNX
