Product: HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-d5000 (4V9Y3AV)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

Laptop frequently overheats and the fan comes on and it is LOUD. I've never experienced this before with any other laptop.  It's a nuisance!!! It even overheats on a lapdesk or an actual desk. Doesn't matter! Anyone else with this issue? Any suggestions what I can do?

Get the dust bunnies out of the laptop.

Charge the battery fully before running any intensive applications.  Your laptop will overheat if it has to both charge and run at turbo speed.

 

To mitigate the heat problem you should use a laptop cooler.

 

In the Advanced Power Plan, set the percent processor utilization to %99 instead of %100 to prevent going into turbo.  This can make a huge difference in temperature.
