PC automatically reset itself, everything gone

Please help, my laptop has automatically reset itself to factory settings and now I have lost everything that was on the laptop! How do I get my files and Pictures back or revert what has happened?!?

I don't know.

If you leave the HDD alone and not write or use it then a faint possibility exists.

You need to find another PC and make a recovery media. 

You can't use your own as it will overwrite everything.

OR

Remove and mount the HDD in a Caddy and use some proprietary software...

These can involve downloading onto the drive you want to repair, and maybe counter -productive.

With GParted you can resize, copy, and move partitions without data loss, enabling you to:

• Grow or shrink your C: drive
• Create space for new operating systems
• Attempt data rescue from lost partitions

Gparted is usually included in a Linux Operating System. 

Sometimes a Newsagent or Large Supermarket sells a magazine with a cover disk.

If you can buy or make a DVD/USB then we can try and talk you thru it.

Otherwise take the HDD out and send it to a recovery expert.
