I have had issues with not being able to update windows 10. I contacted Microsoft and HP about it a d was instructed to reinstall win 10 using usb.
This caused a myriad of blue screen issues and nothing I was instructed to try worked.
I have tried and failed and reseting and restoring the OS as well as various troubleshooting wizards. I tried a clean reinstall of OS - this failed as well.
I ran a PC diagnostic that indicated an issue with RAM ( see attached).
failure ID: 6BX71-98MA15-MFPW2J-40NW03
This led me to think the RAM needed replacing.
my pc is outside of warranty and is in a cycle of blue screens and it wont reboot.

You're very welcome.
The error code tells us...Memory Module 2 Failure.
That means your notebook has two memory modules and one of them has failed and needs to be replaced.
Which one that is, that I do not know.
Sometimes the memory slots are labeled 1 and 2.
If you can find no identifying information as to which memory chip is module 2, then remove one of them, turn on the notebook and if you get the code, then remove that one and reinstall the first one you removed.
Then you shouldn't get a code and you can continue to use your notebook until you can buy a replacement memory module.
Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the memory module removal and replacement procedure.
Make sure you follow the procedure to unplug the PC from A/C power, and remove the battery before removing the memory modules.

Hi:
I recommend you go with one of the modules that Crucial recommends for your notebook, since they guarantee compatability.
