@Jim-Goober, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It is unusual for an HP PC running Windows 11 to take several minutes to wake from sleep, and to experience functionality issues with the mouse during this time. Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
Verify Power Settings:
- Ensure that power settings are configured correctly. You can adjust these settings in the Control Panel under Power Options.
Update Device Drivers:
- Ensure all your drivers, particularly those related to power management or USB devices, are up to date. You can use Windows Update or HP Support Assistant to check and install updates.
Enable Mouse to Wake the Computer:
- In Device Manager, under Mice and other pointing devices, check the properties of your mouse. Ensure the settings under the Power Management tab allow the mouse to wake the computer.
Check for Windows 11 Updates:
- Run Windows Update to ensure your system isn't missing any patches that might improve performance or resolve bugs with sleep mode.
Run Windows Troubleshooter:
- Use the Windows Power troubleshooter to identify and fix common power settings problems. This can be accessed from the Troubleshoot menu in Windows settings.
Test Your Hardware:
- Disconnect and reconnect the mouse. Consider trying a different USB port or a different mouse to eliminate hardware issues.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
