HP ENVY 16 inch Laptop PC 16-h0000 (67T92AV)

Hi Community,
My Windows 11 HP Envy laptop was running hot, and I was hoping the 24H2 update would fix it. Unfortunately, it made the problem worse, so I tried rolling back the PC to a previous restore point. But it seems that several system files became corrupted, and I'm now not able to even boot up the PC into recovery mode (using a Recovery USB drive).

Can anyone offer advice on how to get into recovery mode (ie where I can repair the damaged files using a Recovery USB)?

The first error screen that comes up is:
---------------------------
Recover

Your PC/Device needs to be repaired. The OS couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors.

File: ntoskrnl.exe
Error code: 0xc0000098

You'll need to use recovery tools

Press Enter to try again
Press F1 to enter Recovery Environment (no it doesn't, it just goes back to this same error screen)
Press 8 for Startup Settings (pressing this goes to
---------------------------

Pressing Enter just takes me back to this same error screen. Pressing F1 does the same thing. Pressing F8 takes me to ANOTHER blue error screen, which says:

-----------------------------
Recovery

Your PC/Device needs to be repaired. The OS couldn't be loaded because Code Integrity failed to initialize

File: \Windows/system32\winload.efi
Error code: 0xc0e90002
-----------------------------

======== There are other error pages that come up ("After multiple tries, the OS failed to start", a BitLocker recovery screen, and "A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed").

I created a Windows Recovery USB drive AND changed the UEFI boot order to start with the USB, BUT nothing I do will get the PC into a Recovery or Repair mode. Can anyone provide input or guidance?

Thanks.

Hi @Nunya_Envy

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Commendable diagnosis, superb troubleshooting, and splendid description of the issue before posting. Hats off to you on that score. 😊

In this case, we have to reload Windows from scratch.

First, we need to download the Windows image onto a 32GB or 64GB USB flash drive (Flash drive only, memory cards and USB hard drives are not supported; It has to be 32GB or 64B only)

You can download the Windows image through the 'HP Cloud Recovery App', which can be downloaded from the Windows Store.

Refer to Step 2 on the link below:

And follow Step 4 to reload Windows from the newly created USB recovery media.
