Hi @Nyashaannie,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 15-Dw1000 Laptop PC is not restarting in safe mode or allowing you to reset it, there could be a few potential causes and troubleshooting steps you can try.

Power Cycle: Sometimes a simple power cycle can resolve minor issues. Turn off the laptop completely, disconnect any external devices, and remove the battery if it's removable. Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds, then release it. Reconnect the battery (if applicable) and power adapter, and then try turning on the laptop.

Safe Mode: If you're unable to start in safe mode, try using the Advanced Startup Options:

  • Press the power button, and when you see the HP logo, press the F8 key repeatedly until the Advanced Startup Options menu appears.
  • Choose "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "Startup Settings" > "Enable Safe Mode".

System Restore: If the issue is recent and you suspect a software problem, you can try using System Restore to revert your system to a point when it was working properly. Again, access the Advanced Startup Options as mentioned above, and this time choose "System Restore".

Windows Recovery Environment: If the laptop isn't responding to safe mode or other boot options, you might need to use a Windows installation USB or DVD to access the Windows Recovery Environment. From there, you can attempt automatic repair or use other troubleshooting tools.

Reset: If none of the above steps work, you might need to perform a system reset. If you're unable to do it from within Windows, you can often trigger a reset from the Advanced Startup Options as well.

BIOS/UEFI Settings: Sometimes certain BIOS/UEFI settings can affect the boot process. Enter the BIOS/UEFI settings by pressing a specific key during startup (usually F2 or Delete for HP laptops). Make sure the boot order is correct and there are no unusual settings.

Hardware Issues: If none of the above steps work, it's possible that there could be hardware issues causing the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
