HP 15 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, everybody! Hope that someone can help.

I'm getting an error (Code 28 - "Drivers are not installed") in my notification center and in the Windows Defender Security Center. When I check Device Manager, I find that the driver for the "PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller" is not installed, and that no drivers are available.

As a result, Windows was unable to find a driver, and unable to install the "PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller".

This generates several questions:

  1.  Do I need the "PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller" to be installed? Why?

  2. If I do need it, what problems will i experience if I don't do so?

  3. Is the lack of a driver the only problem? How can I tell?

  4. If I need to get a driver, where can I get it from?

Thanks,

hendis

Interesting...

There were two versions of the driver on the support page.

See if this version works instead...

This package provides the Intel Trusted Execution Engine Interface (TXE) Driver for the supported notebook models running a supported operating system. The Intel Trusted Execution Engine Interface enables the Secure Boot and provides services required for platform security features such as Intel Platform Trust Technology (Intel PPT).

Hi:

What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?

The product number can be found on the same sticker as the serial number.

Different driver versions for that device are needed for models with Intel and AMD processors.

Once you let me know that info, I will post the link to the driver you need.

The following info is from the HP Support Assistant:

The product name is :          HP 15 Notebook PC

The serial number is:           5CD4410DND

The product number is:      J8X12UA#ABA

Running Windows 10 Home 64-bit. Build 1703.

Thanks again. HTH.

Success!

(Well, at least Device Manager has returned to normal.)

Also, nothing in the Notification Area (I'm holding my breath on that one.)

Thank you for your help!
