I have Windows 10 Pro Version 22H2 installed on my PC. When I start up the computer I get an error message:

Hi @Sami-y ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for repeating the issue, Manjunath. That error message: C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\AppUp.IntelManagementandSecurityStatus_2442.7.1...\PIconStartup.exe is related to a corrupted or incomplete installation of Intel Management and Security Status software, which is part of Intel’s Management Engine Interface (MEI). It usually appears after a Windows update or driver conflict.

Let’s fix it step-by-step
1. Uninstall the Faulty App

  1. Press Windows + X → Select Apps and Features.
  2. Search for Intel Management and Security Status.
  3. If found, click Uninstall.

2. Reinstall Intel MEI Driver

This restores the missing or broken components.

👉 Official HP® Drivers and Software Download | HP® Support

  1. Enter your HP PC model (e.g., OMEN 16-am000).
  2. Download the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) driver.
  3. Install and restart your PC.

3. Use HP Support Assistant

This tool auto-detects missing or corrupted drivers.

 4. Clean Up WindowsApps Folder (Advanced)

If the error persists:

  • Open C:\Program Files\WindowsApps (you may need admin rights).
  • Look for folders starting with AppUp.IntelManagementandSecurityStatus_....
  • Delete them only if the app is uninstalled.

⚠️ Be cautious when deleting the wrong folder can affect other apps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
