Hi:

You will have to call HP technical support, and someone should be able to help you by sending you a special BIOS file that will unlock the password.

Thanks for the response, do happen to know if that costs anything? also do u know approximately how long it takes to receive the bios password

You're very welcome.

I do not believe you will be charged, but since I don't work for or represent HP, I can't say for sure.

If you live in the USA/Canada, call this number...1-800-334-5144

I believe they will e-mail you the BIOS file right away.  It is not a password.  It is a file that will clear the password.

I assume they will give you the instructions for how to use the file to clear the P/W.

Have the serial number of the PC handy to give to the customer services rep.

So I called the tech support number and they basically said they couldn't help me unless I purchased a $189 warranty so I did and then they had me try the same thing I already did and when that didn't work they said that there isn't anything else they can do and that I should contact the previous owner but the previous owner won't return my phone calls. I brought up the bios file like u said but she said she can't provide that

I would request a refund.

There are many posts on this forum where HP provides a BIOS file to remove the password and I have never heard of anyone having to pay to get it.

For example...these discussions...
