So I picked up a garage sale laptop this last weekend for a good deal but when I got it home and charged I found out it wants a HP administrator password I tried hitting the esc. Button and then choosing hp recovery but all it does is beep once and then goes back to the administrator password screen. Are there anyways around this HHEELLPPP I paid $100!
It's a HP Probook 4540s

I would request a refund.
There are many posts on this forum where HP provides a BIOS file to remove the password and I have never heard of anyone having to pay to get it.

You're very welcome.
I do not believe you will be charged, but since I don't work for or represent HP, I can't say for sure.
If you live in the USA/Canada, call this number...1-800-334-5144
I believe they will e-mail you the BIOS file right away. It is not a password. It is a file that will clear the password.
I assume they will give you the instructions for how to use the file to clear the P/W.
Have the serial number of the PC handy to give to the customer services rep.
