Hi @MartyMM,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It can be really frustrating when paper gets stuck but won’t fit out the front; you don’t have to dismantle anything. Let’s walk through these steps to clear the jam safely and restore your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018e:

Step-by-Step: Clearing a Stubborn Front Paper Jam

1. Turn Off & Unplug

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the wall.
  • This ensures safety and prevents damage while you clear the jam.

2. Access the Front Door

  • Open the front access door and the ink cartridge cover (inner plastic door).
  • Wait for the print carriage to stop moving before proceeding.

3. Locate the Jammed Paper

  • Gently move the print carriage all the way to the left and then to the right.
  • Look closely inside for any visible paper or torn fragments.

4. Remove the Paper Carefully

  • Using both hands, gently pull the paper in the direction of the paper path, towards the front.
  • Don't yank or tug; this prevents tearing or damaging the rollers.
  • If you see torn bits, remove them all before continuing.

5. Check for Other Jams

  • If you see a rear access panel, open it and check the back for any stuck paper.
  • Some users confuse series models, but for most jams, front access is sufficient.

6. Reset & Restart

  • Close all doors firmly and plug the printer back in.
  • Turn it on, it should reset and be ready for new print jobs.
  • Print a test page to confirm everything is working.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
