Good advice, thanks. I got the download for W10 and i am installing it. It is asking where to install it. There are 5 partitions. Should there be that many, I had no idea. Should there be 5? I am going to put it in number3 which it suggests. It has the most space. It tells me the partitions are not in the right order and if I want to continue? Not sure what to do but I cant hurt anything. I will wait a short time for your response and then go for it. Thanks

Hi:

As I suggested earlier, you delete every partition on the hard drive.

Thanks. In my excitement I forgot. Thanks again for the great help in resolving my problem. I am going to work on the memory problem later, thanks for the links to some 8g modules. I would be glad to inform you of my progress, but I know you must be busy. Can I use you as a reference in trying to get a refund from HP? Thanks again for your help.

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

Since I don't work for or represent HP, I don't know what value I would be toward helping you get a refund, but if you want to reference me in your discussion as to how I helped you get W10 installed due to the non-working recovery media, that would be fine with me.

Hopefully, they will just refund your money.
