Hi @GmaNancy14,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for reaching out. I'll be glad to help.

To better understand what's happening, could you please elaborate a little more on the issue you're experiencing with the battery and hard drive?

A few details that would be helpful are:

  • What is the exact HP product model or product number?
  • What symptoms are you seeing?
    • Is the battery not charging, draining quickly, or not being detected?
    • Is the hard drive causing boot issues, making unusual noises, or showing error messages?
  • Are you seeing any error messages during startup or within Windows?
  • Have you already run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics on both the Battery and Storage (Hard Drive/SSD)?
    • If so, did either test fail?
    • If you received a Failure ID (24-digit code) or any specific error message, please share it with us, as it will help identify the issue more accurately.

If you haven't run the hardware diagnostics yet, I recommend doing so first, as it can quickly determine whether the battery or storage device is reporting a hardware fault.

  1. Turn off the notebook.
  2. Turn it back on and immediately tap the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  3. Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  4. Run the Battery Test and the Storage (Hard Drive/SSD) Test.
  5. Let us know the results. If either test reports a failure, please share the Failure ID and Product ID displayed on the screen.

Once we have this information, we'll be happy to help you determine the cause and guide you with the most appropriate next steps.

I'm an HP Employee.
