Hi,

I got locked out of my laptop. I forgot the password to my local user account.
My hp laptop is registered as one of my devices on my Microsoft account but I’m not logged in with the Microsoft account. So I can’t reset the password via that channel.
What are my options to clearing the password or recovering the password? I don’t have a password reset disk set up.

Hi, thanks but I don’t have a separate administrator account.
So I can’t bypass the sign in pop up when I turn on my laptop.

If you can't do anything
sorry the only option that we can offer here is indicated in this link

If all attempts to recover your password are unsuccessful, you do not need to discard the computer. Instead, reset your PC to completely start over, creating a new password in the process.

Alright, thanks for your help. I’ll try to explore other options that guarantee the safety of my data before resorting to the reset option.

@Kelechi_

You might not have to resort to resetting -- as HP is willing to assist in this.

Passwords can NOT be recovered; instead, they have to be reset.

To reset Admin passwords, you have to contact your regional HP Customer Support location directly for assistance.

Hi, I really do hope I don’t have to reset it and lose my data in the process.
I already tried going through the online customer support route. The virtual assistant wasn’t very helpful and no customer care agent would be available to talk to me over the phone before tomorrow. So, I’ll try again tomorrow.
Thanks for your help.
