HP Pavilion x360 refuses to charge battery when plugged in.  Just installed new battery.  Have gone through potential issues with charger, which helped a little.  charge led only shows white, never amber.  Attempt to calibrate the new battery has left me with no charge and nothing to run the laptop.  What to do?

Hi @Art145236,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Is the charger you’re using the original HP adapter, or a replacement?
  • When you plug in the charger, does the laptop recognize that it’s connected to AC power in Windows (battery icon shows “plugged in”)?

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • Hard Reset: Disconnect the charger, , then press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds. Reconnect the  charger, then try powering on.
  • Check the AC Adapter & Port: Ensure the adapter is firmly connected and test with another wall outlet. If possible, try a different compatible HP charger to rule out adapter issues.
  • Battery Driver Reset:
    1. Open Device Manager.
    2. Expand Batteries.
    3. Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall device.
    4. Restart your laptop Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
  • BIOS Update: Sometimes charging issues are resolved by updating the BIOS. You can download the latest BIOS for your Pavilion x360 from HP’s support website.
  • Battery Calibration: Once the laptop powers on, let the battery fully discharge and then recharge it to 100% without interruption.

If none of these steps help, it may point to a hardware issue with the charging circuit or the new battery itself.

I hope this helps.
