Hello,

I have a Pavilion dm4- 1160us. Ever since I upgraded from windows7 to windows8,the fingerprint reader has refused to work.

Please, what can I do to fix this problem?

Is ther some driver/software I need to get to make it work with my new windows8?

Hi

 

First download and install Validity fingerprint driver from here (installer ver 4.1.139, driver ver 2.1.0.2).

Next download HP SimplePass Identity Protection ver 7.1.5.9 from here

Hi,

 

         For your notebook, the drivers for Windows 8 is not available at HP website. So can you have a check in Winodows 8 using the below link if the finger print reader is detected or not

I understand you have fingerprint reader issues with your laptop.

 

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

 

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

 

Uninstall the fingerprint drivers from device manager and reinstall the drivers using HP recovery manager.

 

Refer this article to know how to restore drivers using HP recovery manager.

 

Also, try updating the BIOS on your PC and check if it helps.

 

Link to update BIOS.

 

 

Refer this article to further troubleshoot fingerprint issues with your laptop.
