Hey there, Community members,
I've got a Pavilion dv6-6b47dx laptop. It's the AMD A8-3500M APU model, which has the ATi-M880G north bridge. However, when trying to install windows (any version of it) it goes through the first segment of the installer, but when it reboots, it has a bluescreen, and the whole installation fails. The BSoD's code is PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. The laptop is totally stock except it has an SSD (SiliconPower 120GB). Tested it with a regular 5400rpm WD drive, but no luck.I mentioned the north bridge only because, I suspect that's the issue.

Hi:
Does your notebook have two memory modules?
If so, remove one and see if you can install Windows with one memory module installed.
If it crashes again, replace that memory module with the first one you removed, and try again.
If it works, you found the culprit and can replace the defective memory module.

Thanks for the reply, it's not a memory issue. I have tested all the memory in a different computer, and changed out them in the Pavilion. However, it turned out it's a BIOS/North Bridge issue. It will detect any amount of memory, but when the x64 driers are getting installed, it crashes. But I have used an x86 installer of Windows 7 Home Premium, and that works flawlessly! So thanks for the help, but it turned out to be an expensive fix.
And Paul yes it had 2 sticks of DDR3-1600MHz (both 4GB), but I have removed one, so the other 4 doesn't cause any problems (and since 32 bit windows wants to install anyway, I decided to upgrade another machine with 4GB).
