When I plug in my HP Pavilion x360, the charging light turns on. When I press the power button, it lights for about 5 seconds then flashes off for 5 seconds then flashes on for 5 seconds and repeats until I hold down the power button to shut down the system. But, the screen is blank and I don’t hear any sounds (beeping, fan on, etc.). All other lights are off (caps lock and keyboard illumination).
I removed the battery and let the system discharge for about an hour, tried turning on with and without battery and still nothing.
Help, please.

Hi @GisS1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you've already taken a few troubleshooting steps, and the issue persists. The flashing power light and the lack of any other signs of activity, such as the fan turning on or the screen displaying anything, could indicate a hardware problem.
Here are a few additional steps you can try.
-
Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the laptop from the power source.
- If the battery is removable, remove it.
- Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the power source and try turning it on.
-
External Monitor:
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor to see if the issue is with the laptop's display. If the external monitor displays an image, it could be a problem with the laptop's built-in display.
-
Check RAM:
- If you're comfortable doing so, try reseating or replacing the RAM modules. Faulty RAM can cause startup issues.
-
Check for Loose Connections:
- Ensure that all internal and external connections (RAM, hard drive, display cable, etc.) are securely in place.
-
Perform a System Diagnostics:
- Some laptops have built-in diagnostics. Check your laptop's manual for instructions on how to run diagnostics.
-
Check for Overheating:
- Overheating can sometimes cause these issues. Ensure that the laptop's cooling system is functioning properly, and there's no excessive dust blocking airflow.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
