Been having some issues with my laptop sometimes not turning back on after being shutdown. Took my chances the other day so I could lightly clean the exterior and now it won't come back on. When this happened before a hard battery reset would get me back online but at this point even that is unresponsive. Really stuck here I need this laptop to last me barely another month any other suggestions? For reference when I attempt to power on the power button blinking white slowly rather than turn on. HP pavilion laptop model 15-eg2053cl (643L4UA).

Hi @Duse22,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Pavilion 15-eg2053cl is not powering on (blinking white light). Let’s go through a few checks.

The slow blinking white light on your HP Pavilion 15-eg2053cl indicates it is stuck in a low-power sleep/hibernate state rather than fully off.

Check Power Source and Basic Response

  1. Disconnect the charger and all external devices (USB, mouse, etc.).
  2. Plug the charger directly into a wall outlet (avoid extension boards).
  3. Check if the charging LED turns on (near the charging port).
  4. Press the power button once and observe:
    • Solid light = normal attempt
    • Blinking white = low power or incomplete startup

Perform a Deep Power Reset

  1. Disconnect the charger.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 20–30 seconds.
  3. Wait 10 seconds.
  4. Plug the charger back in (do not turn on yet).
  5. Press the power button once to start the laptop.

Note: You mentioned trying this—this step ensures it’s done in a fully clean state.

Check Display vs Power Issue

  1. Turn on the laptop and listen for any fan or keyboard light activity.
  2. Shine a flashlight closely on the screen.
  3. If you see faint images, the system is on but the display is not lighting.
  4. Try connecting to an external monitor via HDMI.

Attempt BIOS Recovery

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Press and hold Windows + B keys.
  3. While holding them, press and hold the power button for 2–3 seconds.
  4. Release the power button but keep holding Windows + B for 10–15 seconds.
  5. Watch for screen activity or beeps.

Check for Static or Residual Charge (Advanced Step)

  1. Disconnect charger.
  2. If comfortable, open the back panel.
  3. Disconnect the internal battery cable.
  4. Hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the battery and charger, then try powering on.

CAUTION: Only perform this if you are comfortable opening the device.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,

I'm an HP Employee.
