My PC keeps restarting and with an error message of “

Recover after Boot Failure is enabled but no hard drive boot option is enabled in the UEFI boot order.

Be sure that a UEFI boot drive is properly installed and enabled in the UEFI boot order.”

Hi @ArthurCU46,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your PC is continuously restarting and showing the message: “Recover after Boot Failure is enabled, but no hard drive boot option is enabled in the UEFI boot order.” This can happen if the system is not detecting the operating system drive correctly, the boot order has changed, or the storage drive may be developing a hardware issue.

To help determine whether the hardware itself is functioning properly, please try running the HP Hardware Diagnostics tests below.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  1. Turn the computer OFF completely.
  2. Turn it back ON and immediately tap the Esc key repeatedly.
  3. When the Startup Menu appears, press F2 for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
  4. Run the following tests:
    • Component Tests → Storage
    • Quick Test
    • Then run the Extensive Test if available.

Please note:

  • Whether the SSD/HDD is detected,
  • If the tests pass or fail,
  • And whether you receive any Failure ID or error code.

If the storage test fails, the issue is likely related to the hard drive/SSD itself. If the tests pass, we can then continue checking the BIOS boot order and Windows boot files.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
