HP PAVILION 15 Laptop 15-ehooo2 SA

Product No: 321B7EA#ABU

Error code: 0xc0000225

In a permanent Recovery Loop. Have tried every suggestion ( some several times) over a 3 day period with no success. I have tried a full WINDOWS FILES ONLYreset twice ( without success)  as I don’t want to lose my files. However I’m at my wits end and if necessary will carry out a full factory reset to get my laptop functional again. Is there anyone out there who has experienced the same problem in the past and found a practical solution that actually works and isn’t “too tecchy’?

Hi @Dustymil,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Did the error code 0xc0000225 appear after a Windows update, a driver installation, or suddenly during normal use?
  • When you attempted the Windows files-only reset, did the process complete successfully, or did it fail midway?
  • Do you have access to another PC or USB drive to create recovery media if needed?

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Run Automatic Repair
    • Boot into Recovery Mode.
    • Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.
    • Allow Windows to attempt repairing boot files automatically.
  2. Check Boot Configuration Data (BCD)
    • In Recovery Mode, open Command Prompt.
    • Type:
      bootrec /fixmbr
      bootrec /fixboot
      bootrec /scanos
      bootrec /rebuildbcd

    • Restart and check if the loop resolves.
  3. Create a Windows Recovery USB (if possible)
  • On another PC, download the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft.
  • Use it to create bootable media, then boot your Pavilion from it to attempt repair or reinstall without losing files.

I hope this helps.
