HP Pavilion Power Laptop 15-cb0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I am reaching out to discuss a issue I have been experiencing with my HP Pavilion Power Laptop 15-cb0xx

I use the game Outer Wilds as a benchmark to gauge my laptop's capabilities. Normally, the game runs at 20 fps when set at 1080p and low graphics. During gaming, the laptop's fan are near-silent.

However, a peculiar occurrence has left me puzzled. Without any changes to the PC settings, there was a sudden and unexplained boost in performance. For a few days, Outer Wilds and other previously lag-prone games were running consistently at 60+ fps. Notably, during this period of improved performance, the fan became noticeably louder.

Regrettably, this period of enhanced performance was short-lived, and the laptop has since reverted to its initial low-level performance state.

Note that I recently cleaned the laptop, applied a fresh layer of thermal paste and using a cooling pad, hoping to address any potential heat-related issues but I'm still back at the low performance level.

I am reaching out for advice on how to troubleshoot and address this performance inconsistency. What steps can I take to consistently achieve higher performance levels, similar to the brief period when the laptop ran games smoothly at 60+ fps?

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.
