Hi @Zeba30
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you've lost your photos. There are several ways to retrieve lost pictures depending on the cause of the issue. Here are some steps you can take to try and recover your lost photos:
1. Check the Recycle Bin
First, check the Recycle Bin to see if the photos were accidentally deleted.
- Open the Recycle Bin: Double-click the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop.
- Search for Photos: Look for any files that you think may have been deleted. You can search by file type (e.g., .jpg, .png) or by name.
- Restore: If you find the lost pictures, right-click on them and choose Restore to return them to their original location.
2. Use File History or Backup (Windows)
If you have File History or another backup system set up, you may be able to restore your photos.
To use File History:
- Open File Explorer.
- Go to the Pictures folder where the photos were located.
- Right-click on the folder and select Restore previous versions.
- You’ll see a list of previous versions of the folder from which you can restore the lost photos. Select a version from the date when the photos were still present and click Restore.
If you use a different backup solution (e.g., OneDrive, Google Photos, etc.), you can restore the pictures from there.
3. Search for Hidden Files
Your photos might not have been deleted but could have been accidentally hidden. You can try searching for hidden files.
- Open File Explorer.
- In the View tab, check the box for Hidden items. This will show hidden files.
- Browse the Pictures folder and check if your photos are visible.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
