Hi @NOITAL

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

To better understand the issue with your HP Laptop (15-ef1040nr) regarding the PIN sign-in problem, here are some  questions:

  • Are you currently able to sign in using your Microsoft account password instead of the PIN?
  • Have you made any recent changes to your laptop, such as updates, new software installations, or changes to user accounts?
  • Have you previously been able to use the PIN for sign-in, or is this the first time you’re encountering this issue?
  • Are you signing in with a Microsoft account or a local account?
  • Do you have any other user accounts on the laptop that you can use to sign in?

In the meantime try these steps:

1. Use Password Instead of PIN

  • Sign in with Password: If you have the option, try signing in using your Microsoft account password instead of the PIN.

5. Use Safe Mode

  • Boot into Safe Mode:
    1. Restart your laptop and hold the Shift key while clicking Restart.
    2. Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings and click Restart.
    3. Once the Startup Settings menu appears, press F4 to start in Safe Mode.
  • Try to Set Up PIN: In Safe Mode, go back to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options and try to set up a new PIN.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
