Had about the same thing happen a couple of days ago after windows update saying no longer supporting windows 10 etc etc.

After update, on startup, took forever and then taskbar took forever to come in and then nothing worked.  No apps opened nothing.

Then, I got this: (same as the guy who posted)

"Boot device not found

Please install an operating system on your hard disk

Hard disk(3F0)

I tried system restore-didn't work.

Reset-didn't work

repair hard disk from command prompt- stuck after 8 hours.

It would boot to desktop and then nothing.

So, did what you said, and have been using my pc like normal for a day. I am terrified it is going down again.  My HP is only 2 years old and I can't afford another laptop, but have no choice but to buy another.

So, wanted to THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the instructions!  Even if goes down again, I at least got latest files backed up!

And do you have any further information about this issue, the cause,  or recommendations?

Thanks again!

Sherrie
