Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hello,

My battery is currently at 0% and I am having the plugged in, not charging issue with my battery. This would happen to me occasionally and I was always able to fix it by removing the battery and putting it back on. However, that didn't work this time and I have also try 3 other solutions mentioned in other posts.

1. Device manager and uninstalling the the Microsoft ACPI - Compliant Control Method Battery, shut down laptop, unplug charger, remove battery, press and hold on the power button for a minute, leave the laptop for 2-3 minutes, put the battery and charger back on, and power on the laptop  = did not work

2.  HP Support Assistant --> Battery check = did not work, my test result said "Unknown" and did not provide any other information.

3. HP System Diagnostics for Testing and Calibrating the Battery --> Battery Test = did not work , received error message that said No Battery is Installed (but the battery is installed)

I am confident that both my laptop battery and charger are still in good condition  (they are both  the official replacement I bought about 2 years ago from the HP store.

if there are any other solutions to help with this issue, I would really appreciate it.

Hi @arid123

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Try these steps -

Step 1 Hard Reset -

1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Unplug all the Adapter and peripherals connected.
3) Remove the Battery.
4) Press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds.
5) Plug-in the Adapter and put the Battery back into the computer.
6) Try to turn on the computer.

Step 2 BIOS Defaults -

1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3) Press F10 once for BIOS.
4) Press F9 for BIOS defaults.
5) Press F10 to save and exit.

Test the battery using these steps -

1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3) Press F2 once.
4) Go to Component test.
5) From the list, run the Battery Test.

Let me know how that goes.

It could be possible that your charging IC is damaged, I had the same issue replaced battery changed charger but nothing worked. I am using envy m6-1206tx laptop as a PC right now as I don't have any other option instead of using it as AC charger connected.
