Hi @Fnanda,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you’re experiencing issues with a USB-C port on your HP 250 Intel i7 laptop and receiving a "Port Reset Failed" error, here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
**1. ** Restart Your Laptop
- A simple restart can sometimes resolve connectivity issues with USB ports.
**2. ** Update Device Drivers:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.:
- Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers section.
- Right-click each USB driver (especially USB Root Hub and USB-C) and select Update driver.
**3. ** Uninstall and Reinstall USB Controllers:
- In Device Manager, right-click each USB driver and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the drivers.
**4. ** Check Power Management Settings:
- In Device Manager, right-click on the USB device (e.g., USB-C controller) and select Properties.
- Go to the Power Management tab.
- Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
**5. ** Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Restart your laptop and press the appropriate key (e.g., F10, Esc, Del) to enter BIOS/UEFI settings:
- Ensure that USB ports are enabled in BIOS/UEFI settings.:
- Save any changes and exit BIOS/UEFI.
**6. ** Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off your laptop and unplug it from the power source.
- If your laptop has a removable battery, take it out.
- Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds:
- Reinsert the battery, plug in the power adapter, and start your laptop
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
