HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop PC 14-ea1000 RCTO Base Model

So I paid almost $2,000 for this laptop and I bought it brand new.  I bought it brand as it's supposed to be the top of the line. I paid almost $2,000 for it and now when I try to power It up the power button blinks 10 times and doesn't power up. If I plug it in it shows charging and it also blinks 10 times along with the power button  when I try to turn it on (by pressing the power button) and will not boot up.  I have tried all of the normal support steps, the battery is not removable (unless I take the laptop apart) [edit].

Thank you for your assistance with this inconvenient matter.

Hi @Shane-Dion ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're experiencing with your HP Spectre X360. The 10-blink pattern on the power button usually indicates a hardware issue, often related to the battery, power, or internal components. Here are some steps you can try to diagnose and possibly resolve the issue:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Disconnect the AC adapter from the laptop.
  2. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual electrical charge.
  3. Reconnect the AC adapter and try to turn on the laptop.

2. Check for Error Codes

HP laptops often use a series of blinks and beeps to communicate error codes. If the 10-blink pattern is consistent, it might be a specific error code. Refer to the HP support website or your laptop's manual to identify what the 10-blink code means for your specific model.

3. BIOS Reset

  1. Connect the laptop to the power adapter.
  2. Press and hold the Windows key and the B key at the same time while the laptop is off, then press and hold the power button for about 2-3 seconds. This may reset the BIOS settings.
  3. Release all keys and wait. The screen may remain blank for 40 seconds, but you might hear beeping sounds. If the BIOS reset works, the laptop should start up.

4. Check the RAM

Sometimes, reseating the RAM can resolve startup issues:

  1. Turn off the laptop and disconnect all peripherals.
  2. Remove the back cover (refer to your laptop's manual for instructions on how to do this safely).
  3. Carefully remove and reseat the RAM sticks.
  4. Reassemble the laptop and try to power it on.

Refer to this document: HP Spectre x360 14 Convertible PC 14-ea0000 User manual

The computer beeps or a light blinks during startup

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
