Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had to replace the circuit board for the power switch after breaking the ribbon cable from the original during disassembly to upgrade the HDD to SSD. Now the switch stays illuminated even when the laptop is shut down. I have the latest MS updates and I have turned off the Windows fast start-up option in the settings.

Please try:

  1. Press windows button -> type command prompt -> right click ->select run as  administrator.

  2. type-> powercfg h off  -> hit enter

  3. type-> exit -> hit enter

Regards.

Thanks banhien. Unfortunately, that solution did not resolve my problem.

The circuit board for the switch has been replaced. I have tried the power options, disabling sleep, and have turned off fast startup. I removed the battery. While running the laptop on A/C power I used the Windows command to shut down the PC and the led remained lit. The laptop is shutting down, no other LEDs are staying on, it's just the one built into the power button itself. I have also tried holding down the power button for an extended time and that makes no difference. I'm wondering if the switch board might be defective, or have some kind of mechanical issue. The switch functions nicely, it has the right resistance and feel, and as stated, does shut the thing down. It seems that if I can't correct the issue, I'll have to make sure that the battery is removed when not in use to avoid the drain from powering the LED.
