Hi @Chloe444xxx,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing issues with saving a PowerPoint file on your HP Pavilion 14, which could be caused by several factors. Here are a few things you can try to resolve the problem.
Check Your Internet Connection
Since you mentioned uploading it to OneDrive, ensure your internet connection is stable. A slow or intermittent connection could cause the file to take a long time to save to the cloud.
Save Locally First
Try saving the PowerPoint file to your local drive first and then upload it to OneDrive after you've finished working on it. This might bypass any issues related to syncing with OneDrive while you’re actively working on the file.
- Steps:
- Click on File in PowerPoint.
- Select Save As.
- Choose a folder on your local drive (like Documents) and save the file there.
- Once you’re done, you can upload the file manually to OneDrive.
Clear OneDrive Sync Issues
If you're still saving directly to OneDrive, check for any sync issues:
- Look at the OneDrive icon in your system tray (bottom-right corner).
- Right-click the icon and check if there are any pending syncs or errors.
- If there are issues, try pausing and resuming sync or restarting OneDrive.
Disable Auto-Save
If Auto-Save is enabled in PowerPoint, it could interfere with saving the file. Try disabling it:
- In PowerPoint, go to File > Options > Save.
- Uncheck the AutoSave OneDrive and SharePoint Online files by default on PowerPoint option.
Update PowerPoint and Windows
Sometimes, a software update can resolve file-saving issues:
- Check if there are any updates available for PowerPoint via Microsoft Store or Office.
- Ensure your Windows system is up to date by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
Check for Large File Sizes
If your PowerPoint file is particularly large (many images, videos, or complex animations), it might take a longer time to save. Try reducing the size of the file by compressing images:
- Go to File > Info > Compress Media (if applicable).
Restart the App or System
If none of the above helps, try closing PowerPoint and restarting it. Sometimes a simple restart can clear any temporary glitches that may be affecting performance.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
