This issue started out the day after I moved to Hungary for the upcoming academic semester. Three days ago my HP laptop (HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14 m-dy1xxx) was working fine. But yesterday I got an endless loop of preparing automatic repair. I’ve tried numerous solutions through hp support pages, YouTube videos, and ChatGPT but none of them seem to work. Whereas disabling my TPM and using a Windows 11 recovery stick were promising neither worked. When disabling TPM and booting it from there it continuously brought me to a Driver PNP Watchdog error. I was looking into downloading Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver as my attempt through the Windows recovery stick halted after having zero drives to place it on?

My computer knowledge is moderate at best, so I’d appreciate any step-by-step guidance or other suggestions to get past this. If you need more details about my setup, just let me know.

Hello @bergamot21, and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you're facing with your Pavilion x360 after moving to Hungary. Based on your description, it sounds like the issue may be related to either:

  • A corrupted boot configuration or Windows installation.
  • Missing or incompatible storage drivers (especially Intel Rapid Storage Technology).
  • TPM or Secure Boot interfering with recovery.

Let’s walk through a step-by-step recovery process to get your system back up and running.

Step 1: BIOS Setup Check

  1. Turn off your laptop.
  2. Press Esc repeatedly right after pressing the power button to enter the Startup Menu.
  3. Press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
  4. In BIOS:
    • Go to Security > TPM Device → Disable it.
    • Go to Boot Options:
      • Disable Secure Boot.
      • Enable Legacy Support (if available).
    • Go to System Configuration > SATA Mode → Set it to AHCI (not RAID).
  5. Press F10 to save and exit.

Step 2: Create a Windows 11 Recovery USB (if not already done)

Use another PC to create a recovery USB:

  • Download the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool.
  • Run the tool and create a bootable USB drive (8GB+).

Step 3: Load Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) Driver

If no drives are detected during Windows setup, you’ll need to load the IRST driver manually.

  1. On another PC, download the latest Intel RST driver from HP:
    • HP Pavilion x360 14m-dy1xxx Drivers
    • Look for Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver under “Storage” section.
  2. Extract the downloaded ZIP file to a separate USB drive.
  3. Boot your laptop using the Windows 11 Recovery USB.
  4. When you reach the “Where do you want to install Windows?” screen and see no drives:
    • Click Load Driver.
    • Browse to the second USB drive and select the IRST driver folder.
    • Once loaded, your internal drive should appear.

Step 4: Reinstall Windows

Once the drive is visible:

  1. Select the primary partition and click Next.
  2. If partitions are corrupted, click Delete on all partitions (only if you’ve backed up your data or don’t mind losing it).
  3. Proceed with a clean install.

Step 5: Post-Install Setup

Once Windows is installed:

  • Re-enable TPM and Secure Boot in BIOS if needed.
  • Run Windows Update and install all updates.
  • Visit HP Support Assistant or the HP driver page to install missing drivers. HP Support Assistant | HP® Support

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
