Seem to be in a loop with front screen saying preparing automatic repair. Have tried online fixes but still stuck! What should be my next steps?

Hi @Kim442026,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • When did this issue first start after a Windows update, a crash, or hardware change?
  • Do you see any error messages after the “Preparing Automatic Repair” screen, or does it just restart endlessly?
  • Have you been able to access the Advanced Options menu at all?

Here are a few things you can try :

  • Force access to Advanced Startup: Power off the laptop completely, then turn it on and interrupt the boot process three times (hold the power button to shut down as soon as Windows starts loading). On the fourth boot, Windows should open the Advanced Startup Options.
  • Run Startup Repair: From Advanced Options, select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.
  • Boot into Safe Mode: In Advanced Options, go to Startup Settings and enable Safe Mode. If it boots, you can uninstall recent updates or drivers that may have caused the loop.

I hope this helps.
