Dear Community,

I try to get my Laptop hp Pavillon 15-cs3300ng (USB) print on Printer hp Laserjet 1100 MS (LPT ) that I have working on a descktop that unfortunately get damaged and cannot be used anymore. The Printer was recognised by the laptop and installed as a default printer. I tried to install the corresponding printer driver but got stuck as it is Not available online. Somebody told me to download and install the "hp Universal Printerdriver" but I could not find it. Can somebody kindly help and guide me what to do? and send me the link of the printer driver I need to install to get the printer up and running with the laptop.

Thank you so very much indeed for your kind help.

Happy New Year!

Hi @MIC2001,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

For older printers like the HP LaserJet 1100, the HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) can be a suitable solution, especially when specific drivers are not readily available for newer operating systems or hardware configurations. Here’s how you can use the HP Universal Print Driver:

Download the HP Universal Print Driver:

Installation:

  • Once downloaded, run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • You might need to select the connection type, which should be USB if you are connecting via a USB-to-parallel cable.

Configure the Printer Port:

  • Make sure your USB-to-parallel (LPT) adapter is connected.
  • Go to Devices and Printers in Windows.
  • Right-click on the HP LaserJet 1100, and select Printer properties.
  • Go to the Ports tab and ensure the correct USB port is selected if you are using an adapter.

Testing:

  • Print a test page to verify the setup.
  • If the printer doesn’t work initially, try changing the printer driver to a different version of the HP Universal Print Driver (e.g., switching between PCL and PS).

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
