HP ProBook 650 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a ProBook 650 G3 laptop with BIOS P88 - Version 01.34.

I would like to upgrade the existing HDD to an SSD.

I have a Windows 10 Pro license (box version) in case the OEM version of the OS is not recoverable.

I can boot in LEGACY mode from a USB installation key made with Microsoft's MEDIA CREATION TOOL.

When choosing the partition where to install WINDOWS 10, the SSD is recognized with a total capacity of 0.0 MB and an available space of 0.0 MB.

The SSD is INTENSO Top (240 Gb).
I tried the SSD in another computer and I managed to install W10 without difficulties.

The SSD is currently partitioned in MBR. The SMART status is perfect. It works perfectly in other computers, except in my ProBook.

Thank you for help

I finally found the BIOS configuration and PK key procedure to install a SSD and a non-proprietary OS on my probook while keeping the UEFI mode and the secure booting.

I saw that there was the possibility to download firmware for Micron, Intel and Seagate SSDs.
I suppose it doesn't make sense to try to install firmware if the brand hardware is not present in the laptop.

Is there an option in the bios that prevents a new hard drive from being used on the laptop?

The firmware present at the download concerns the brands MICRON / INTEL / SEAGATE. Would it be possible that only the SSDs of these brands are compatible with the PROBOOK 650 G3 ?
