Pavilion 15t-n200
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have an HP Pavilion 15t-n200 running Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit), and I would like to disable the touchpad when I have my USB mouse connected.

I have done this on many different laptops, and I have never had a problem.  Normally, I do the following:

  • Start -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Devices and Printers -> Mouse
  • Normally, these is a tab after the "Hardware" tab (normally Synaptics)
  • From there, I check the box that disables the touchpad when a USB mouse in connected.

However, on this Pavilion 15t-n200, this option does not exist.  The only tabs are "Buttons," "Pointers," "Pointer Options," "Wheel," and "Hardware."  There is not tab associated with the touchpad.

I thought maybe I was missing the driver, so I had HP search the laptop and it took me to the page below.  However, there is no driver for keyboard, mouse, etc:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-15-n200-notebook-pc-series/6529948/mode...

So, I am lost at this point.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

Hi Praveen,

Unfortunately, your link did not resolve the problem.

"Double-tapping" does not do anything, and the "Device Settings" tab does not appear in my "Mouse Properties" dialog.  In my original post, I showed that the HP drivers page does not include a keyboard, mouse, etc. driver for some reason.  Do you know why that is?  At present, I do not believe the Synaptics driver is installed; however, I do not know which one I need to install.

Thank you for your help!

@Jacksies

Thank you for the update.

Please try to disable the touchpad with the registry.

Press WINKEY + R to run the Run window. Inside that, type regedit and hit Enter.

Or, in the Cortana search box, search for regedit and hit Enter.

This will now open the Registry Editor on your device.

Now, navigate to the following registry key:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTPEnh

After this, right-click on SynTPEnh and then hover over New and then click on DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Name this new DWORD as DisableIntPDFeature and double-click on it in order to change its value.

Select the Base as Hexadecimal and set the Value Data as 33.

Hit OK to save the changes and reboot the computer for your changes to take effect.

Hi Praveen,

Thank you for your response.  I tried following the steps you provided regarding editing the registry; however, the path you specified does not exist (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTPEnh).

At this point, I am not confident that the drivers for Synaptics is installed, which is why I originally went to the drivers page looking for it in my initial post, but there are no "keyboard, mouse, etc." drivers to be found!?!?

Any other ideas?  Is there a way to find the touchpad driver I am missing?  On another note, even though I cannot find the Synaptics registry entry, the touchpad does work fine....which makes it even more confusing!

Thanks!

@Jacksies

Thank you for the information.

Unfortunately, we do not have option to take the remote control of your computer and check.

I would suggest you contact phone support in this regard.

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Have a nice day!!
