Hi @Brandemar,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy x360 is stuck in tablet mode and you can’t disable it, here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Use Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Toggle Tablet Mode: Try pressing Windows + A to open the Action Center. Look for the tablet mode button and click it to turn it off.
  • Keyboard Shortcut: Press Windows + K to see if that helps switch modes.

Step 2: Check Tablet Mode Settings

  1. Open Settings: Press Windows + I.
  2. Go to System: Select System and then click on Tablet.
  3. Adjust Settings: Make sure the tablet mode is set to Always ask me to switch or Never instead of Always on.

Step 3: Update or Roll Back Drivers

  1. Open Device Manager: Right-click the Start Menu and select Device Manager.
  2. Locate HID Compliant Device: Expand the Human Interface Devices section.
  3. Update Driver: Right-click on any HID devices and select Update driver.
  4. Roll Back Driver: If you recently updated drivers, you may want to roll back to a previous version.

Step 4: Disable Tablet Mode via Registry (Advanced)

  1. Open Run Dialog: Press Windows + R.
  2. Type regedit and hit Enter: This opens the Registry Editor.
  3. Navigate to the Following Path:
  4. Create or Modify DWORD:
    • If TabletMode doesn’t exist, right-click on the right pane, select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value, name it TabletMode, and set its value to 0.
  5. Close the Registry Editor: Restart your computer.

Step 5: Check for Windows Updates

  1. Open Settings: Press Windows + I.
  2. Go to Update & Security: Check for any available updates and install them.

Step 6: Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Shut Down Your Laptop: Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  2. Press and Hold the Power Button: Hold it for about 15 seconds.
  3. Reconnect Everything: Reinsert the battery, connect the power adapter, and turn on your laptop

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
