HP Omen 16 Laptop wd0xxx

I am having trouble installing Windows 11 on my HP Omen 16 Laptop, I have a 13th Gen i7 13620-H and a NVIDIA RTX 4050.

Here is what I've tried and encountered :

- Cannot load Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers for 12th and 13th gen CPUs

- Cannot disable VMD, change to AHCI or disable RAID in UEFI

- Can't locate VMD Drivers

- 1TB Drive is split into 2 partitions, one is 500gb empty but formatted with NTFS, other 500gb has Arch Linux installed, and my NVME is recognizable and I can view my partitions. (On Linux only)

- Drives wont appear and all drivers that I've loaded are marked as uncompatible.

My next plan of action is formatting the entire drive with NTFS and re-trying a Win 11 installation. Any help would be appreciated.

I recommend that when you are at the screen where Windows cannot find any drives, run the Diskpart utility to clean the disk.

  1. Press Shift+F10 from inside Windows Setup screen to open a command prompt window.
  2. Type diskpart and press the Enter key.
  3. Type list disk to find your disk number.
  4. Type select disk (e.g., select disk0) to choose the disk you want to format.
  5. Finally, type clean to wipe the disk completely.
  6. Exit diskpart and install Windows.

I have zipped up and attached below, the Intel storage controller drivers needed for Windows to find the drive.

The file is good for any PC with an Intel 11th > 13th gen core processor.

Unzip and copy all of the files in the folder in the attachment to a USB flash drive.

Have the flash drive and your Windows installation media plugged into USB ports.

Boot from the Windows installation flash drive.

When you get to the screen where no drives can be found, click on the Load driver option, browse to the flash drive with the storage controller drivers on it.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

If Windows still can't find the drive, uncheck the box to include the compatible driver and try any of the ones listed.

Your other option, if the notebook came with Windows, you can use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will factory reset the drive to its 'out of the box' condition.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive for this.

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store:

Since you have to use the utility on another Windows PC as yours is not working, you will have to enter your notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.
