Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I switched the hard drive from my old laptop into my normal one because the new one failed but I couldn’t wipe the hard drive because the old laptop is dead, the old laptop is a HP pavilion. I thought I would be able to wipe the hard drive by booting into an installation usb stick but when I started the laptop up, it didn’t boot into the usb stick and didn’t give me the option to press F2. It said “getting things ready” and when it got to 100% it restarted and showed the windows 10 log in screen from the old computer with the time and the old background. What would happen if I logged in? I didn’t want to in case something bad happened. What do I do to wipe the hard drive clean to start fresh?

Hi:

To boot from the USB drive, turn on the PC, immediately tap the ESC key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen to get the menu of options.

Select the F9 boot options menu, and from that select the USB diskette on key/USB flash drive, and press the Enter key.

The PC should boot from the W10 installation media.

When you get to the screen where it asks 'Where do you want to install Windows,' delete every partition on the hard drive, leaving just one partition of unallocated space. Click Next, and W10 should install.
