HP victus
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP Victus, and since the last update, I’ve been having issues. Right after the update, my computer recognize my headphones, but there was no sound. I tested the headphones on another computer, and they worked perfectly. I managed to fix that issue.

However, now my computer recognizes my Logitech MX Master 3 mouse, but it doesn't execute the extra buttons or functions. Additionally, the numeric keypad on the right side of my keyboard no longer works. When Num Lock is off, the arrow keys function as expected, but when I turn it on, the numbers don’t type, and there’s no response.

Hi @Danaaaa,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

It sounds like you have two issues with your HP Victus laptop: the extra functions on your Logitech MX Master 3 mouse aren't working, and your numeric keypad isn’t functioning properly when Num Lock is on.

Here’s how to troubleshoot both problems:

1. Fixing the Logitech MX Master 3 Mouse Extra Buttons Issue

To get the extra buttons and functions working on your Logitech MX Master 3 mouse, you'll need to ensure that the correct software is installed:

a. Install Logitech Options/Logi Options+

  • Download and install the Logi Options+ software from Logitech's website. This software is designed to enable customization and functionality of the extra buttons on your mouse.
  • After installation, open Logi Options+ and ensure the extra buttons are correctly mapped and configured for specific functions or apps.

b. Check Driver Updates

  • Update the mouse drivers via Device Manager:
    1. Right-click the Start menu and select Device Manager.
    2. Find Mice and other pointing devices, right-click on your Logitech MX Master 3, and select Update driver.
    3. Choose Search automatically for drivers.

c. Test on Another Device

  • If possible, test the mouse on another device to see if the issue is specific to your laptop or the mouse itself.

d. Check USB/Bluetooth Connectivity

  • If you are using Bluetooth to connect the mouse, try reconnecting the mouse or switching to the USB receiver to see if it improves functionality.

Hi @Danaaaa,

Please find the remaining steps below.

2. Fixing the Numeric Keypad Issue on HP Victus

If the numeric keypad on the right side of your keyboard isn’t typing numbers when Num Lock is enabled, try the following:

a. Test Num Lock Key

  • Check the Num Lock light on the keyboard. If your keyboard has a Num Lock indicator light, make sure it’s on when you want to type numbers. If there is no light, press the Num Lock key and try typing numbers again.

b. Change Ease of Access Settings

  • Check if Mouse Keys are enabled (this can sometimes interfere with the numeric keypad):
    1. Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Mouse.
    2. Ensure that Control your mouse with a keypad is turned off.

c. Check Keyboard Layout

  • Ensure that the keyboard layout is set correctly for your region. You can check this by:
    1. Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language.
    2. Make sure your keyboard input method matches your physical keyboard layout (e.g., QWERTY).

d. Update Keyboard Drivers

  • Update the keyboard drivers:
    1. Go to Device Manager.
    2. Expand the Keyboards section, right-click your keyboard, and choose Update driver.

e. Test in BIOS

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS (typically by pressing F10 or another key during startup).
  • Check if the numeric keypad works within the BIOS environment. If it works in BIOS but not in Windows, the issue is likely software-related.

f. Run HP Diagnostics

  • If none of the above works, run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to check if there are any hardware issues with your keyboard.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve both the Logitech mouse functionality issue and the numeric keypad problem. If the issues persist, it could point to deeper hardware or software configuration problems, and it might be worth contacting HP phone support or Logitech for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
