Product: Hp 2000 notebook
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi like I've read on here it seems to be a common thing. I have been relieved of my laptop case and recovery software etc but luckily I got the actual laptop back minus any of my installed software. I got it booting up and running but cannot do any updates or downloads and it's telling me I need the windows 8 product key but I have been unable to get it. I would appreciate any input. I have no way of getting the software because I have none of the original documents or CDs. I went back to the place of purchase and was told to buy a new os. I really need this computer for school and other stuff so again I would greatly appreciate any help.
