Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 (598V2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello HP Community,

I recently upgraded my HP Victus 15-fb0147AX laptop’s RAM to 4GB + 16GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM, but my system is only detecting 4GB RAM instead of the full 20GB capacity.

System Specs:

  • Laptop Model: HP Victus 15-fb0147AX
  • BIOS Version: [Mention your current BIOS version]
  • RAM Installed: 4GB Samsung + 16GB Crucial (DDR4-3200)
  • Current Issue: Only 4GB is detected, even though both RAM modules are properly installed.

Troubleshooting Steps Tried:

Swapped RAM slots and reinstalled modules properly.
Ran CPU-Z, which showed only 4GB detected.
Checked BIOS, but no manual memory remap option found.
Attempted a single 16GB module, but the system did not boot.
Ran HP Diagnostics (UEFI Memory Test) but couldn’t fully confirm RAM detection.

Has anyone faced this issue before? Is there a BIOS update or configuration tweak required to make the full 20GB usable? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

@PrabhatTechGuru

I did post somewhere 3 years ago. Be careful, Crucial may say its RAM is compatible BUT in some cases NOT (in my case HP 840 G5). Why NOT use Samsung RAM ?

Regards.
