I have tried several ways to get the latest versions. When I try install RST - the laptop goes into a restart mode and an error message displays ÿour device ran in to a critical issue and has to restart - the drivers never get installed - In the device manager only my Nime hard disks are chowing. Can you please help me. Thanks Nicoleen Saminathar

Hi @Nicoleen1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you're experiencing may be related to compatibility between the latest Windows 24H2 update and the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) or Optane Memory drivers. Here's a step-by-step guide to resolve this issue.
Verify Compatibility
- Check if your version of Windows 24H2 supports the installed version of RST or Optane Memory drivers.
- Visit the Intel or HP support page to confirm the compatibility of your laptop's hardware with the latest drivers.
Update BIOS
- Ensure your laptop's BIOS is up to date. BIOS updates can often resolve compatibility issues.
- Visit the HP support site and download the latest BIOS update for your HP Pavilion Gaming 15.
Use Intel Driver & Support Assistant
- Download and run the Intel Driver & Support Assistant (IDSA).
- The tool will automatically detect and recommend the correct RST/Optane drivers for your hardware.
Disable Intel Optane Memory Before Installing Drivers
If Optane Memory was previously enabled, it might cause conflicts:
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F10, F2, or DEL during startup).
- Locate the Intel Optane Memory settings and disable it.
- Save changes and reboot.
Clean Install of Drivers
- Uninstall Existing Drivers:
- Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
- Expand "Storage Controllers" and uninstall any existing RST or Optane-related drivers.
- Install New Drivers:
- Download the latest RST or Optane drivers directly from Intel or HP.
- Install the drivers in safe mode to avoid potential conflicts:
- Boot into Safe Mode by holding Shift and selecting Restart from the Start menu.
- Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- Select Safe Mode.
Configure BIOS SATA Mode
- Ensure the SATA mode in BIOS is set to "RAID" (for RST) or "AHCI" (if not using RST).
- Save changes and restart your system.
Check Windows Update
- Sometimes, Windows might block or override drivers. After installing the correct drivers:
- Pause Windows Updates temporarily:
- Go to Settings > Windows Update.
- Select Pause Updates for a few days.
- Pause Windows Updates temporarily:
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
