Pavilion 14-ce1012tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey guys, I have a Pavilion 14-ce1012tx with i5-8265u and GeForce MX150.

I have constantly been plagued with random BSODs when the PC is either idle or under low load. However, when am playing a game or running a virtual machine for no matter how long, It's stable. Sometimes I have up to 5 BSODs in a day. I have never overclocked this PC and always run all my things as stock. I ran SSD checks and RAM memtests and all passed.

One fateful day I wake up and find I cannot boot into Windows. Each attempt leads to a BSOD.

I happily took the PC back to the store I bought it from and tried changing SSD and RAM and I still couldn't boot. This left me with one problem. CPU. The thing I had been dreading all along.

Believing it to be a Windows problem, I tried to install Ubuntu and ended up with, "Kernel panic: Not all CPUs entered broadcast exception handler"

After that, it cannot even respond and I have to long press the power button to kill the PC. I was basically left with a crippled PC that couldn't boot, install and run any OS. But atleast it left me with a place to start.

I created a Windows To Go installation in my external HDD on another computer, booted into it and disabled two CPU cores which was essentially my last resort since I had my back to the wall. This I might say actually worked and right now as I type this, am running off that external HDD with one of my two USB ports permanently taken up. So am basically using the PC as a dual core instead of quad and it hurts my pride HP would release a not fully configured CPU

I have gone through your Post and I understand your concerns

I suggest you run an Extensive System Test to confirm the Hardware Functionality

- Shut down the Notebook completely
- Turn it back on, then tap the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup menu screen is displayed.
- Press F2 to select System Diagnostics.
- Click System Tests, then click Extensive Test.

If all the Tests pass, I suggest you contact HP Support to order the Recovery Media

I have done all extensive tests sir. I lost all mortal hope and HP folks near me have absolutely no clue what to do. I decided to flee before they could completely ruin it by blowing off the CPU.

For the time being am using the PC as a dual core with two cores. AT the moment it's stable and come here hoping someone had a link to a hotfix either from intel or HP that I had missed.

Thanks for Keeping me posted

At this point our HP Support Engineers would be the best option to sort this out through a Repair Service if needed

I have been to the HP support centre in my country Uganda.

They had no clue at all as what to do. That's why I fled.

But thanks anyway.

Could you pass word on to HP to release a hotfix for us?

👍👍👍

We will surely pass on this Feedback to the concerned Team and if any Fix is required it will most probably come as an update through HPSA

Thank you
