I will be doing school work typing in Microsoft word and suddenly my cursor disappears and several screens flash open on page and glitch. Several search results pop open in their own windows. Hard to see if cursor is back sometimes and it’s hard to close out the windows that have opened.

@Bwiles2011, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Random Windows Opening!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Check for Malware or Viruses:

  • Use a reliable antivirus or antimalware program to scan your computer. This will help ensure there are no malicious software causing these issues.

Update Your System:

  • Make sure that your operating system and all relevant drivers are up-to-date. Sometimes, glitches like these can be resolved by updating software.

Keyboard and Mouse Issues:

  • Make sure that your keyboard and mouse are functioning properly and are not sending unintended signals to the computer.
  • For wireless devices, ensure that the batteries are fresh and that the devices are within range of their receivers.

Windows Task Manager:

  • Use Windows Task Manager to close any programs not responding or using excessive resources.
  • Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete together to open the Task Manager, and check for any applications behaving abnormally.

Uninstall Problematic Programs:

  • If a particular program often causes these problems, consider uninstalling and reinstalling it to ensure it's not corrupted.

Disable Unwanted Startup Programs:

  • Some programs may open automatically at startup, which can cause issues. Disable unnecessary startup programs using Windows Defender or another tool.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
